This is an experiment in forum integration. In theory, folks who reply via the comment box to this post should see their replies automatically posted as a topic reply over in the forum. The comment count at the bottom of this page should update automatically to include both blog comments and forum comments.

Issues I'm not quite sure about:

  • Will this even work?
  • How will comments by unregistered users be handled?
  • Will blog comments be posted within the linked forum thread, or as a new topic thread?

Guess there's only one way to find out.

Here is a comment that I am leaving on the blog post. What will happen? Where will it end up? Only the Shadow knows.

Okay, that seemed to work. But then, I'm the admin. So any other folks who want to try this, head on over to the blog post and see what happens when you leave a post in the comment box.

In the meantime, I'm going to try logging out and see what happens/what it looks like if I'm a "guest user" trying to post a comment.

Did anything happen at all?

I guess one of the questions is, will this automatically create a new user, or will my comment be rejected? Or will it post here, but not to the forum? And is there a way to get the Third Party login stuff to appear on this page, too? Hmm…

Fascinating! This is amazing! Looks like it posts my comment on the blog as a "guest" post on the forum, even though "guest" users are not allowed to comment in the forum directly. Hmm…
